Have you ever had the opportunity to evangelize but weren’t sure what to say? Through personal experience and speaking with other people about sharing the Faith, I know this is fairly common. Sometimes, it’s like you know what you want to say, but it’s not coming out how you mean it.
I’m a very energetic person, especially when speaking on our Faith. So one of the things that I have to remember is that it’s not about finding the right thing to say, but about allowing the Holy Spirit to help direct the conversation and help you say the right thing. That is much easier said than done, but it is the most effective way to reach people.
When I think back on the numerous conversations about the Faith that I’ve had, sometimes the right thing to say would just pop up in my mind. I know it wasn’t something that I had thought; rather, it was something that the Holy Spirit had planted there for me to use. In today’s culture, it’s seems like facts and truth (however crucially important they always will be) are not as effective in sharing the Faith as a relatable experience may be. People will debate a what is true, but they will have a hard time debating an experience.
So remember to pray to the Holy Spirit before or early-on in a conversation about the Faith and ask for guidance. Be sure to also listen to the other person and think about how yours or others’ experiences of coming to the Faith can be relatable, and share your story! When you do that, you will have the right thing to say.
God bless and have a great day!
