There are three general areas a christian will encompass on his or her journey in becoming a “Complete Christian”. They are Encounter, Discipleship, and Mission, and each “leg of the journey” brings a person closer to Christ. In order to help guide a person’s journey, Fr. Bartunek created The Complete Christian Collection.

The Better Part, which is the first book, is all about encountering Christ and getting to know him personally. Then there is Seeking First the Kingdom, which is 30 meditations about putting one’s life in harmony with being Christ’s disciple. The final book is Go! 30 Meditations on How Best to Love Your Neighbor as Yourself, and it helps answer questions such as “What’s my mission in Christ’s Kingdom? What does it look like?”

We all live busy lives, so each book is broken down into manageable readings to help you grow closer to Jesus. While they can be read for personal growth, small groups have enjoyed these as well. Each reading concludes with questions that can be used for personal reflection and/or group discussion, to help prayerfully apply these important truths to your daily life. Embrace the Lord’s call, and become a “Complete Christian” through Encounter, Discipleship, and Mission!

The Better Part

Christ Centered Resource for Personal Prayer

Fr. John Bartunek, LC, S.Th.D

This book should be declared a national treasure! We lead tremendously busy lives, with 1,001 things to do. Even so, every saint and renowned spiritual director through the ages has said the same thing: If we desire to become saints, we must spend time daily in meditation. The Better Part is the first book of Fr. Bartunek’s Complete Christian Collection. It provides the reader the opportunity to “encounter” Christ by enabling us to read, meditate, absorb, and apply the Gospels to our lives. It serves as a catalyst to personalize times of prayer, enabling us to follow the Holy Spirit’s lead along the path of holiness. The portable resource has a ribbon to mark your place and contains detailed indices to help you meditate either on the liturgical seasons or the virtues you feel most in need of developing.

The best-selling book, now in its sixth printing, features a substantive, meditative and flexible structure. The first section offers a detailed and practical guide to Christian mediation. The second, larger section is divided into units. Each unit consists of five parts: a passage from the Gospels and a four-part commentary based on the same four themes throughout the book: Christ the Lord, Christ the Teacher, Christ the Friend and Christ in My Life. All four Gospels are contained and commented upon in their entirety.

30 Meditations on How Best to Love Your Neighbor as Yourself

Fr. John Bartunek, LC, S.Th.D

We are not all called to travel far from home to serve others. You can live out the missionary dimension of your Christian vocation right now in your current state of life! In Go! 30 Meditations on How Best to Love Your Neighbor as Yourself, Father John Bartunek insightfully combines Bible passages and Church teaching with practical and actionable advice that you can apply to your daily life. Throughout the book, he clarifies commonly misunderstood terms like mission, apostolate, evangelization, and new evangelization.

As Christians, we are called to encounter Christ, to be His disciples, and to bring Him into the world. Go! explores this “missionary” dimension as the third book in Fr. Bartunek’s Complete Christian Collection, which includes The Better Part and Seeking First the Kingdom. As with all of his books, Go! can be used for individual spiritual reading, personal meditation, or in a small group.
